Tropical Fruit Smoothie

With summer upon us, I thought I’d liven up the joint with some seasonal tropical fruit ideas.

Ingredients:

1 c. pineapple
1 med banana
1/2 c. mango
1/4 c. papaya
3/4 c. nonfat plain yogurt
1/2 water
1/3 c. frozen orange juice (I use 5 alive myself)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (if using as meal replacement or post workout drink)

Directions:

blend together frozen juice, water, and fruit
add protein powder and yogurt
blend until smooth and creamy

Cauliflower and Cabbage Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup skim milk
1/2 large banana
3/4 cup frozen Mango or Papaya
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
3/4 cup cauliflower floretts
3/4 cup shredded cabbage
3 Tbsp. Vanilla Protein Powder
2 T. Flax seed (powdered, or you can use oil but oil wont add fiber). Optional, for Vitamin B, fiber, antioxidants, omega 3 benefits.

Directions:

Add milk, banana, and veggies to blender and whirl until chopped up well.
Add Yogurt and blend.
Add Mango and blend
Add Protein powder and flax seed and blend until smooth.

Beta Carotene Blast

Beta Carotene helps keep your vision healthy and helps to prevent osteoarthritis. Here is a shot of beta carotene in an incredibly taste smoothie that also provides potassium and 200% of your daily recommended intake of vitamin C!

Ingredients:

3 small ice cubes
2 apricots (sliced and pitted)
1/2 papaya (frozen in chunks)
1/2 mango (frozen in chunks)
1/2 cups carrot juice
1 tablespoon honey

Directions:

Add ingredients (except for honey) to blender in the order listed, then blend on high speed for 30 seconds. Add honey and blend a few seconds more. Serve in a frosted glass. Option: add orange juice for a thinner consistency.

Mango Smoothie

Mango Smoothie

Ingredients:

1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup peeled, pitted and sliced fresh mango
honey to taste
1/2 cup ice

Optional: 1/2 cup milk but use the whole mango
Optional: 1 Scoop protein powder (put this in blender first)

Place the juice, fruit and honey in a blender.
Blend on high speed for 30 seconds.
Add the ice and blend until smooth.

Mango and Pineapple Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 large mango partially frozen
1 Can sliced pineapple, or 1 1/2 cups fresh pineapple, partially frozen
1 banana, chilled
(if used canned pineapple, use that juice, otherwise add 1/2 cup pineapple juice and 1/2 cup orange juice
Ice cubes if needed for thickness

Dice mango, chop pineapple, and slice banana.
Add fruit to blender with juice.
Blend until smooth.

(Add ice if too thin, water or juice if too thick)
